Retinal and choroidal vascular occlusion secondary to corticosteroid embolisation.

چکیده
We report a case of visual loss following intranasal injection of triamcinolone acetonide and phenylephrine hydrochloride in a 22-year-old female with chronic sinusitis. Clinical examination and fluorescein angiography revealed vascular occlusions which involved multiple small branches of both the choroidal and retinal circulations. The mechanism of such a complication probably involves inadvertent intra-arterial injection into the anterior or the posterior ethmoidal artery, with retrograde flow into the opthalmic arterial system. Precautions can be taken to avoid such complications.

Baseline subfoveal choroidal thickness as an indicator for bevacizumab outcomes in central retinal vein occlusion
Background: Retinal vein occlusions are one of the most common form of retinal vascular disorders and could lead to vision loss due to macular edema, macular ischemia and sequelae from neovascularization. Anti-venous endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) treatment is the choice strategy of treatment for patients with macular edema secondary to central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO). There is an ...
متن کاملPreretinal neovascularisation associated with choroidal melanoma.
BACKGROUND The rare occurrence of iris neovascularisation and choroidal (subretinal) neovascularisation in patients with choroidal melanoma has been reported. However, the occurrence of preretinal neovascularisation (NVE) fed from the retinal circulation in eyes with choroidal melanoma is far less frequently reported. METHODS Three case reports of choroidal melanoma with the very rare finding...
متن کاملEvaluation of Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography Findings in Patients with Branch Retinal Vein Occlusion
Purpose: To analyze the correlation of optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) findings with visual acuity (VA) in patients with branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO). Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed on 20 eyes of 20 patients with unilateral BRVO involving the macula referred to the ophthalmology clinic of Rassoul Akram Hospital. OCTA imaging was conducted for all patie...
متن کاملBilateral nodular sarcoid choroiditis with vitreous haemorrhage.
A 21-year-old black man with presumed systemic sarcoidosis had bilateral choroidal nodules, unilateral retinal neovascularisation and vitreous haemorrhage, and non-caseating granulomas on percutaneous liver biopsy. The choroidal nodules were serially documented by fundus photography and fluorescein angiography over a 22-month period. Fluorescein angiography was more accurate than ophthalmoscopy...
متن کاملA patient with acute macular neuroretinopathy and central retinal vein occlusion
PURPOSE The precise mechanism causing acute macular neuroretinopathy (AMN) is still unknown. A recent report suggested that choroidal circulation impairment correlates with its pathogenesis. We report a rare case with simultaneous onset of AMN and central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO), which is a retinal circulation disorder. METHODS Case report. RESULTS A 44-year-old woman complained of ce...
